At the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) annual business meeting in Boston on December 3-5, 2008, Dr. Abigail Hughes, Superintendent of the Connecticut Technical High School System (CTHSS) was elected to her first term as a Commissioner of the Commission on Technical and Career Institutions (CTCI). Bruce Sievers, Principal of Cheney Technical High School (Manchester), was also elected Chair of the Commission on Technical and Career Institutions (CTCI) for the 2009 calendar year. Sievers is currently serving his second term on the CTCI and will also serve on the NEASC Board of Trustees for 2009.

NEASC is the regional accrediting agency recognized by the federal Department of Education to accredit schools (public elementary & secondary, independent schools, and higher education) throughout New England.

NEASC, through its Commission on Technical and Career Institutions (CTCI), accredits member institutions whose curricular focus is on technical and career programs. The eighteen schools in the CTHSS are accredited by CTCI.
