Sue Murphy, a physical education instructor at Platt Technical High
School in Milford, Connecticut, has been named the Athletic Director
of the Year for Connecticut by the National Interscholastic Athletic
Administrators Association. Murphy has worked as the Platt Tech
softball coach since 1989 and as athletic director since 1993.
As athletic director at Platt Tech, Murphy has implemented several
innovative programs that motivates her students. As softball coach,
she has built a dynasty winning 12 league championships. Murphy
has a strong background in softball herself earning All-New England
softball honors three times while at Eastern Connecticut State University.
During softball season, she is famous for her early morning practices
having her players start practice on the diamond at 5:45 sharp.
Murphy, an avid runner, also coordinates a Community 5K race each
Fall. Through all her hard work, she definitely has earned the title
of Athletic Director of the Year.
