Meet the CTHSS Maintainer of the Year:
Kurt Karpavich Building Maintenance Supervisor at Kaynor Tech

Kurt Karpavich

A 1977 graduate of the Plumbing and Heating Program at Kaynor Tech, Kurt Kapavich worked for 20 years as a project manager in the HVAC field. He then went on to become facilities manager of the Hartford Civic Center (16,000 seat capacity) for 11 years. Kurt returned to Kaynor Tech this past year. "It was like traveling through a time warp," said Karpavich.

He took the position because he wanted to be a part of the construction effort to build the new Kaynor Tech.

Says Kaynor Principal Robert Axon about Karpavich:  "He has excellent technical skills that make him aware of issues beyond the normal.  He led the planning in the move to the new building by implementing a plan of action, buying new equipment for the building, identifying problems in advance. We are very pleased that he is a part of our team."
