| Gayle
Salisbury, school nurse at Ellis Tech, has been selected as this
year's Nurse of the Year for the Connecticut Technical High School
System (CTHSS). Although only in her second year in the CTHSS, Gayle
brings an impressive wealth of experience in the medical field.
She worked as a registered nurse at the Hubbard Regional Hospital
in Webster Massachusetts for 26 years. In the short time she has
been at Ellis, she utilized her background in industrial medicine
and infection control as well as her training skills to upgrade
Ellis Tech's student health program and staff health awareness.
According to Ellis Tech school principal Gail Welburn, "Gayle has
brought an increased professionalism and broader base of medical
knowledge to Ellis Tech which benefits both students and staff."
On hearing about being named Nurse of the Year, Gayle said, "I'd
like to say that I have such a positive feeling working here at
Ellis. The co-operation and positive attitudes of administration,
staff and students make working here so worth it."
On Monday, May 16th, Gayle along with 8 other nurses from other
state agencies, were honored at the Fourth Annual State Nurse of
the Year Award Ceremony held at the State Capitol.
