The 8th annual Student of the Year Luncheon was held on Tuesday May 23, 2006, at Platt Technical High School in Milford, Connecticut. In attendance were several dignitaries  including the Superintendent of the Connecticut Technical High School System, Dr. Abigail L. Hughes and State Board of Education Members Donald J. Coolican and Beverly R. Bobroske.

A senior student from each school was selected as student of the year based on his/her academic and technical achievements during the school year along with his/her demonstrations of leadership and community involvement. Students were introduced by a member of the administration from their school and then presented with a plaque and a commemorative pen.

The meal was created and served by the students in Platt Tech's own Culinary Arts program under the supervision of Chef Terry, Chef Leto and Chef Fusco.
