Teacher of the Year for 2005 is Home Grown Gem
Michael S. Terribile,
electronics teacher at Kaynor Tech in Waterbury since 1997,
is the 2005 CTHSS teacher of the year.
"In the classroom, I feel a sense of accomplishment daily,"
says Michael. He is
a product of our system, having graduated in 1980 from Platt Tech.
"Teaching
has changed my life," he says.
"I model what I want my students to learn as well as the
way they are expected to behave.I believe that involvement in the
community and volunteer work should be an integral part of our lives."
Says
one colleague: "On a daily basis, Mike goes above and beyond to
help his students both in the classroom and in extra curricular
activities, volunteer work and fundraising for good causes."
"In
a single word, my message is "TEAMWORK." Teachers, administrators
and parents need to work closer together."
The rewards of the profession are evident when a child's
attitude towards life and education are changed in a productive
way."
Mike
was selected from a very strong field of finalists who have distinguished
themselves as outstanding teachers and leaders in the system. They

teachers and truly enrich the lives of their students every day.
We are proud to showcase their contributions to our system," said
