Mr.
Alex Pesarik, Bio-Environmental Technology department head at
Grasso Tech has a passion for teaching, a love of science
and a respect for nature.
He
synthesizes them all in his work in the classroom, in the lab, the
greenhouse or aboard ship where he teaches his students how science
impacts the world we live in.
Described
by students and fellow teachers alike as a caring educator who applies
high standards, Alex teaches Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental
Science. He also oversees
lab and field production work.
Alex
reaches out to middle school students who may be interested in studying
in the Sciences with a program that is called Bio-Buddies.
He involves Grasso students in helping younger students in
Grades 4, 5 and 6 to better understand the Sciences.
He also engages his students in numerous CWE opportunities,
and he coaches two sports.
Says Alex, "My style of teaching reflects my philosophy;
I emphasize the importance of 'real-world' scenarios and treat every
lesson as a job site. I
strive to teach life before science and good work ethic before skills."
