Staff and students
of the Culinary Arts program at Wilcox Technical High School of
Meriden were featured on the popular morning TV show "Better
Connecticut".
The segment which was taped on Friday, October 3rd aired
on October 15th on WFSB (Channel 3) starting at 10 am.
Teresa
LaBarbera of WFSB interviewed several students while they worked
as well as Wilcox Tech's Culinary Arts Department Head Chef Mario
Longo. Dr. Abigail Hughes, Superintendent of the Connecticut Technical
High School System (CTHSS), was also on hand. She explained to
LaBarbera that many senior citizens visit the Connecticut Technical
High Schools across the state because the schools offer quality
service at bargain prices. "Many come and get their hair
done in our hairdressing departments and then have lunch in one
of the restaurants of our Culinary Arts programs," said Dr.
Hughes.
LaBarbera also interviewed patrons in the school restaurant
while they enjoyed their gourmet meals. She was also impressed
by the eye-pleasing and delicious variety of desserts that were
on display. Wilcox Tech Principal Richard Cavallaro summarized
WFSB's visit. "This is great. I'm really happy that people
will get to see what a great school we have here." |
