CTHSS Superintendent Selected
Patricia A. Ciccone has been approved by the Connecticut
State Board of Education to be Superintendent of the Connecticut Technical
High School System (CTHSS). Ciccone had been interim Superintendent since
June, 2009.
Previously she had served as Assistant Superintendent and as Consultant for
Professional Development for the CTHSS. Ciccone also was Principal of Windham
Technical High School in Willimantic and Assistant Principal at Ellis Technical High School
in Danielson.

Auto Tech Programs Receive National
Certification
The Automotive Technology programs of the Connecticut Technical High
School System are currently going through the process of receiving NATEF/ASE
Certification. As of January, 2010, the Auto Tech programs at Eli Whitney
Tech (Hamden), Platt Tech (Milford),
Ellis Tech (Danielson), Windham Tech (Willimantic) and Norwich Tech (Norwich) have earned
this certification.
Abbott Tech (Danbury) will receive its
certification in February, 2010 and plans are for Goodwin Tech (New Britain), Vinal Tech (Middletown)
and Kaynor Tech (Waterbury)
to go through the certification process next school year. See More Details.

The
Connecticut Technical High School System (CTHSS) is turning 100 years old
this year! The CTHSS will be organizing a
number of activities during the year to commemorate this milestone. To get started,
we have put together a CTHSS History Challenge so you can see how much you
know about our school system.

Annual
State SkillsUSA Competition Coming Up
The 33rd Connecticut SkillsUSA State
Leadership Conference and Skills Championships will be held on Friday, March
26, 2010. Headquarters for the Conference will be at Vinal
Technical High
School in Middletown,
Connecticut. Award Ceremonies
will take place the same evening at New Britain
High School in New Britain, Connecticut.
