October 20, 2008
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Amazingly, the first two months of the 2008-2009 school year
are almost complete, and, as we rapidly approach the holiday
season, I want to provide a brief update on progress here at
school.
We began the new school year by welcoming Mr. Gil Traverso,
who has joined us as our third Assistant Principal. Mr. Traverso
is a veteran administrator in the district, as well as a licensed
electrical contractor. He is the administrator for the Class
of 2011, and will be supervising the English Language Learner
program, in addition to other duties.
Our football and soccer teams have returned home to our new
athletic complex, having spent the last three years practicing
and playing games off site. Everyone is invited to watch the
varsity football team (6-0) play Friday nights at 7:00 under
the lights. Check our website for the game schedules of both
teams, and while at the games, make sure to support the Cheney
Booster Club at the concession stand. All money raised goes
to support our athletic program.
Many of our teachers have established their own web pages
which can be accessed from the school home page
(www.cttech.org/cheney).
Teachers update their pages regularly, and students and parents
can access homework assignments, course syllabi, and other
important information related to the courses they’re
taking. I encourage parents to email teachers with any concerns
or questions about their child’s education.
Mrs. Jousette Caro, Dean of Students, is planning the 2nd
annual Career Fair to be held in the multi-purpose room the
morning of November 26. Many area businesses, including the
Department of Labor, will be here that day to present career
opportunities to our students. I ask you to encourage your
junior and senior students to talk to Mrs. Caro about participating
in our Work Based Learning Program. Additional information
can be found on our web site.
Reminder that our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meets
the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 in the Library Media
Center. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Sincerely,

Bruce Sievers
