Congratulations
to Devon J. Gladysz, 10th grade
Diesel and Heavy Equipment Repair student and Steven
P. Hurst, 10th grade Computer
Aided Drafting and Design student. Both
Devon and Steven have been selected to participate in the Hugh
O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Seminar during the spring
of 2008.
Hugh
O’Brian Youth Leadership is one of the oldest and most
prominent youth leadership organizations in the world. HOBY
was founded by actor Hugh O’Brian after returning from
spending nine inspirational days working and volunteering with
Dr. Albert Schweitzer, the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize Winner.
Two
weeks after his visit, O’Brian sought out to change the
world in his own way by engaging young leaders, the world’s
most promising enterprise and greatest asset. In 1958
HOBY was born.
The
HOBY organization, amongst many things, aims to encourage leadership,
motivate future leaders to become full participants in the
democratic system, and develop confidence in outstanding 10th
grade students. Cheney Technical High School is very
proud to have Devon J. Gladysz and Steven P. Hurst represent
us. |
