CHENEY TECH SCHOLAR ATHLETES NAMED

Derek LaHouse and Missy Leggo were selected as this year's CIAC Scholar Athletes for Cheney Tech. Each year the CIAC honors students from each Connecticut High School who exemplify excellence in athletics and academics.

Derek and Missy along with Scholar Athletes from every high school in Connecticut were honored at the annual CIAC Dinner on Sunday, May 3rd at the Aqua Turf in Southington, Connecticut.  Derek is a senior Electrical student and Missy is a senior Culinary student.  Congratulations to both of them for their accomplishments!

  • Lowest Golf average in the history of Cheney Tech
  • Most medals for Golf in Cheney history.
  • Achieved Honors or High Honors every marking period all four years.
  • Student Council member.
  • Little League Softball Coach.

Missy's accomplishments

  • Achieved Honors or High Honors every marking period all four years.
  • Played all fours years in Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball
  • 2008-09 Captain or Co-Captain of Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball teams.
  • 2008-09 Basketball CSC All-Conference honorable mention.
  • Four years perfect attendance.
  • Four years Robotics Team officer/member.
  • National Honor Society officer/member
