| The
National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization
established to recognize outstanding high school students. More
than an honor roll, the NHS serves to honor those students who have
demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership,
service, and character. These characteristics have been associated
with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
NHS members: Sean Rosen, Andrew Stone, Kyle Steelman, Ranon Caldwell, Derek LaHouse, Kevin Collins, Joshua Lorette, Delaney Sullivan, Piero Uribe, Mariano Mora, Melissa Leggo, Christopher Adamczyk, Ethan Jandreau, Suzanne Bertram, and Joshua Lamoureau.

ACTIVITIES
-
NHS students serve as guides for Parent Teacher Conferences/Open House.

NHS students engage in guidance presentations for the middle school recruitment.

NHS is sponsoring the Bundle Up Connecticut Winter Coat Drive for the needy in our state from 10/08/08 until Thanksgiving.

NHS
students has planted Daffodil Hill opposite the entrance
of the Busy Beaver Café.

NHS
students are assisting the Booster Club with refreshment
sales at sporting events.

Starting
October 29th, NHS students will be tutoring Kindergarten
and Second Grade students at Verplanck Elementary School
in Manchester on Club Days.

NHS students are working as senior mentors.

NHS
students are responsible for the selection and reading
of words of wisdom on the PA system two mornings a
week.

Ten NHS will be participating in the Smithsonian Leadership Seminar for five days in Washington D.C. starting February 23rd 2009.

NHS
students are developing several additional service
learning projects that will be unfolded throughout
the school year.
