The ninth-grade
exploratory program was established in vocational-technical schools to
help students make informed career choices. The program allows students
to sample trades in a realistic manner prior to committing themselves to
extensive training in a particular vocational area.
The exploratory program allows
students to appraise their individual interests, aptitudes, abilities,
and skills as they explore a variety of vocational opportunities and to
gain an understanding of opportunities within each. The goals of the
exploratory program are for the student to: 1) understand the school
environment, 2) develop decision-making and problem solving
skills, 3) develop school success skills, and 4) gain an
understanding of self and others. Students receive 3.125 credits for
this program. |
