Ellis Tech Boys Baseball finished the
season 2nd Place in the Eastern Division of the Constitution State
Conference with a league record of 4-4 and fell one game short
of qualifying for the CIAC State Class M Tournament with a season
record of 7-13. The Eagles were edged out in some dramatic
one run ball games when they fell 1-2 to Grasso Tech in extra innings,
9-10 to Tourtellotte in a come-from-behind win for the rival Tigers,
and a heartbreaking loss to Cheney Tech (19-1) in extra innings.
On
the brink of greatness for most of the season, the Eagles Baseball
Team was not able to capture the magic at just the right moments. Backed
by strong senior leadership from Josh DiPasquale, Ryan Wilson,
Mike Cafaro, Lucas LaPorte and Tyler Harriott and excellent support
from underclassmen like Tom Kubik, John Kline, Jon Arraje, Karl
Barry, Dave Pelletier, Tyler Neeland, Zach Ezzell, and Jon Mikolajczak;
the Eagles made strong improvement over the course of the season.
Highlights
include Dave Pelletier’s two-homerun game against
Parish Hill, Ryan Wilson’s 4-for-4 day against U-High, Tyler
Neeland’s
Homerun against U-High, Jon Mikolajczak hitting .382 on the year
with on base percentage of .521, Lucas LaPorte finding his pitching
talent, Tom Kubik batting .375 with only 8 K’s on the year,
Josh DiPasquale getting hot late in the season (10 of his 20 hits
in last 5 games with 2 doubles and 2 monstrous triples) to go along
with his team leading wins as a pitcher, John Kline batting .295
with 4 Doubles and 14 stolen bases, excellent utility play from
Karl Barry, Jon Arraje, and Jon Petrucci, and Mike Cafaro stealing
36 bases in only 21 games! Josh Dipasquale was honored as a first
team all CSC selection and Ryan Wilson and Dave Pelletier received
honorable mention.
Thanks for a great season guys! |
