Backus Hospital “Be Aware, Don’t Go There!” trip

A selection of freshmen students attended the Backus Hospital “Be Aware, Don’t Go There!” trip and experienced the consequences of drinking and driving first hand. We toured the hospital and viewed the various locations that would be visited after being in a car accident, including the paramedics, emergency room, critical care, and the morgue.

The volunteers at the hospital do an excellent job of portraying victims of accidents and explaining is done to try and save a life after a terrible accident. Guest speakers help to make a strong impression on the students by talking about their experiences first hand and describing their bad choices and how they have to live with them each day. The experience is emotional yet meaningful and meant to send a clear message to students about the importance of making smart decisions. Thank you to everyone who participated!
