On March 4, 2008, Martha Rainey, School Counselor
at Ellis Tech and President-Elect of the Connecticut School Counselor
Association, met with Senator Dodd to discuss supporting federal legislation
that would allow for the hiring of more school counselors in Connecticut.
Senator Dodd is a fierce advocate of quality education
for Connecticut’s kids. He frequently co-sponsors bills that will allow for more federal dollars to be spent directly on Connecticut schools. Senator Dodd is an enthusiastic supporter of school counselors and is aware of the positive impact they have on student success. He expressed his appreciation for the tremendous work Connecticut school counselors do to improve academic achievement among the students in our state. Ms.
Rainey reassured Senator Dodd that by supporting school counselors,
he supports professionals who, with teachers, stand on the front line
of education every day, committed to making a positive difference for
our students.
