Ellis Tech Student Wins Local Talent Competition

Ellis Tech's own Marybeth Murdock was the 1st place winner at the Windham Idol Competition at the Willimantic Street Festival  on Thursday October 18th.  She won a recording contract with the Tree House Studios in Storrs from the I98.3 radio station out of Willimantic.

Murdock finished the competition with a dazzling, soulful rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Think.” For a 16-year-old young woman, she handled this heavyhitting piece like a pro with passion and grit. “I really like country and R&B music,” said Murdock. “I’m being coached at Onyx Soundlab in Manchester. They helped me pick this song for the contest.” Murdock has been singing since she was a child.
