On Sunday, May 17th, students, staff and family members joined in the 2008-2009 50/50 Walk. Every year for the past three years, E.C Goodwin has organized this walk to help raise funds to help send students to Kansas City for the National SkillsUSA competitions and the raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Association to help find a cure for the millions of innocent children living every day with the challenges of type one diabetes.
E.C Goodwin is hoping to send three students and an escort to Kansas City for the competitions. These students have earned the right to compete through state competitions. It is estimated that they will need a minimum of $1500 per person. If you are interested in donating, please contact Rodney Irizarry or Rita Macri at E.C. Goodwin.
In addition, half of the money raised from the walk goes to help find a cure for type one diabetes. Type one diabetes, also known as juvenile or insulin dependent diabetes, attacks innocent young children. Some on the children are infants as young as six months old. It can attack without warning, with no history or risk factors. It is a life long disease that these children will live with every minute of every day until a cure is found. If you would like to help, please donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Be a positive role model and show the children an example of helping the less fortunate. |
