Senior
Manufacturing Tech student Ismael Sanchez is
getting real world experience even before he
graduates. He has been working at TriStar Industries,
Inc. since last October. Based in Berlin, Connecticut,
TriStar has been a leader in the manufacturing
of threaded inserts and precision machined products
for over 16 years. TriStar develops components
for several markets ranging from the medical
field to toy manufacturing. Most of their
customers are located in North America but they
also have made products for clients all over
the world.
According to TriStar's President, Andrew Nowakowski,
it is the first time they have hired a
high school level student to work for them. He says
that he has been impressed by Ismael's work ethic and
enthusiasm. "We started him off learning about our
safety and work standards. We also had him working
with some of our top machinists on a variety
of inspection techniques. Now we have him running
Davenport screw machines."
Ismael works a full
day 2 to 3 days a week during his shop cycle
at Goodwin Tech. He says that his training at
Goodwin Tech has helped him immensely in the
work he is now doing at TriStar.
"I really enjoy working here. The people
are very helpful and friendly. I have learned a lot,"
says Ismael on his experience so far at TriStar. |
