Maggie Delaporta began in the system at Norwich Tech as a part-time social studies teacher. New to the field, tutoring home-bound students was an opportunity that presented itself. Two years later, Mrs. Delaporta found herself in a full-time position at Eli Whitney Tech in Hamden where she served as an advisor to the National Honor Society and as a member of the Attendance Committee.
Since starting at Grasso three years ago, Mrs. Delaporta has been living in Mystic. She continues to tutor home-bound students and serve as a member of the Attendance Committee. Previously, she served on both the Recruitment and Scheduling Committees and took part in Peer Mediation Training in May of 2007. Currently, she is co-advisor to the Class of 2010. Mrs. Delaporta serves on the Principal’s Advisory Committee, the Teachers’ Advisory Committee, and serves as Secretary of the PFO. Mrs. Delaporta has served two years as a BEST mentor, a BEST cooperating teacher, and now is scoring BEST social studies portfolios.
Mrs. Delaporta feels that "being involved in one’s school provides a teacher with a more in-depth awareness of student and school needs. This awareness can assist an educator in streamlining his or her teaching process and strategies to be more effective all around. I am proud that I have taken many steps toward fulfilling this accomplishment."
Congratulations Ms. Delaporta. |
