On Tuesday December 18, 2007, Mrs. Days-Luketich, the Community Education Officer from Chelsea Groton Bank visited the Grasso Hospitality and Customer Service Management Department to talk to the sophomores and juniors. She talked to the students about credit cards and how easy it is to be lured into applying for a credit card. She also had the students bring in a credit card application and showed them the things to look for on the application and explained the pitfalls. These included interest rate, fixed variable, annual fee, late payment fees, promotion, and cash advance.
She followed with an explanation of student loans. Did you know that it is easier to get a student loan with no credit but no matter what you have to pay the loan back? If you don't pay it back it will always be on your record. She also told students that a grace period is when the difference in time from when you get you bill and you pay the entire amount due before the grace period you don’t have to pay interest. |
