Kaynor Tech's Fashion
Tech Department participated in American Heart Association’s “Go
Red for Women” campaign which was highlighted by the "Design
a Dress" Fashion
Show on Sunday, February 3rd at the Inn at Long Shore in Westport,
Connecticut. The Kaynor Tech team took home a $300 gift card for their
winning entry.
Below is an article by Kaynor Tech's own
Terrell Wagner about their experiences in this event.
The genius of Scarlet Moon was born upon
bundles of thoughts as well as differences. It was an adventure coping
with all the different ideas coming from each person in the group but
all of the differences formed one happy ending, a first place winning
dress! I, Terrell Wagner, along with Nicole Goodman, Ariel Goodman,
Ngareischa Jackson and Tara Johnson are all very diverse people but
actually good friends.
Our first few ideas for the dress were more elaborate but didn’t
quite fit together in a stylish sense. So, to bring it all together
we drew up the idea of making it a fun and flirty style of dress with
bits of elegance. That is where the cute bubble hem and dazzling beads
came into play. We had an original design for our mid-bodice piece
with the ribbons and beads but our final piece worked out to be better
than our original thought.
Also, our pleated bust and its synched shoulder that extended into
the back mid-bodice was another design that formed as time went on.
Our biggest challenge was the beading with the numerous hands attempting
to construct it. We all had to balance out who would do what and it
actually turned out quite well.
Near the end of a journey there’s always that special something
to make things even better, so to top it all off, we adorned our creation
with the slightly beaded bow. It was our ‘lil icing on the cake
in its own way. Even with all of the bickering and dictating that happened
throughout the process things were accomplished and we won first place.
All of the joy and credit is really positive towards us and a real
happy ending! |
