QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

How do I apply to a LPN Program?
1. Fill out the application that is available online. At www.cttech.org/lpn.
2. Return the completed application with your resume and the required $50 application fee.
3. Sign up to take the Nurse Entrance Test from ERI
4. Get Ahead!  Sign-up to complete the Math and English courses at a community college or university.

How do I register for the Nurse Entrance Test (NET) from ERI?
You can register for the test by calling ERI (Educational Resources Inc.) at 1-800-299-3926 or by visiting their web site, www.eriworld.com.

What does it cost to attend the LPN Program?
The total program tuition costs are only $4,050. The two evening program tuition costs are only $5,400.  Additional costs for uniforms, required Introduction to Psychology course, books and supplies are not included.

Is financial aid available?
Yes. Pell Grants and Veterans Educational Benefits are available to eligible students who qualify.  Tuition waivers are available for qualifying veterans and senior citizens only.  For the prerequisite college courses, all community colleges offer federal and state financial aid, grants, scholarships, educational loans, and work study opportunities to eligible students.

What does the LPN job forecast look like?
Employment of LPN’s is expected to grow faster than average for all health occupations through 2014 in response to the long-term care needs of an increasing elderly population and the general growth of health care services. Replacement needs will be a major source of job openings, as many workers are expected to leave the occupation permanently.

Will I be able to continue my studies towards an RN degree after completing the LPN Program?
Absolutely.  The Connecticut Technical High School System and the Connecticut Community Colleges have partnered together to provide graduating LPN students an opportunity to complete their studies towards becoming a Registered Nurse.  Graduating CTHSS LPN students need to complete two additional college courses before enrolling for  an additional year of study in a Registered Nursing program at any of the Community Colleges in Connecticut.

How do I know if I get into one of the LPN Programs?
We will notify each applicant upon receipt of their application what they are missing or have not completed yet (i.e. college courses, resume, CPR card etc.).  Students will be notified in June if they have been admitted to the LPN program.

If I previously applied to a Community College RN      Program and I already took the prerequisite college courses and the TEAS Test, do I have to take the Nursing Entrance Test (NET)?
No, you do not. If you successfully completed MATH 137 and ENGLISH 101, we will honor your TEAS Test score for admissions. You must provide an official copy of your TEAS results.

When does the LPN program begin and end?
We are currently looking for candidates for the August 2008 semester.  Accepted students in the day program will be  committed to a three semester program that will end in   January 2010.  For the evening program, students will finish their 4 semester program in June 2010.

What can I do if I have more questions?
You visit or website at www.cttech.org/lpn or call 1-800-U-CAN-TECH (1-800-822-6832).  You can also contact the LPN site nearest you.
