CTECS to Host Job Fair for CT’s Skilled TradespeopleHartford, CT; June 28, 2019 – The Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) will hold a job fair for experienced tradespeople interested in pursuing a career in teaching at a Connecticut technical high school. The fair will take place on Wed., July 24, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.C. Wilcox Technical High School, 298 Oregon Rd., Meriden, CT.
CTECS operates 17 diploma-granting technical high schools, one technical education center and two aviation maintenance programs throughout Connecticut. Locations include Hartford, Bristol, Bridgeport, New Britain, Hamden, Groton, Ansonia, Danielson, Meriden, Danbury, Manchester, Stamford, Norwich, Torrington, Milford, Stratford, Middletown, Waterbury, and Willimantic.
“The goal of the event is to encourage skilled tradespeople to consider a career that contributes towards building the next generation of Connecticut’s workforce,” said Dr. Niki Menounos, CTECS Assistant Superintendent. “There is a large nationwide skills gap, with more positions available than workers to fill them. Technical high schools, and their expert teachers, are part of the solution to this problem.”
