PFO/BOOSTER CLUB

FEBRUARY 2, 2009

MINUTES

 

Meeting was called to order at 5:31 p.m., Norwich Tech Library, 7 Mahan Rd, Norwich by Cindy McKeon.

 

Officers: President-vacant; Dana Wynn, Vice President – absent; Cindy McKeon, Secretary – present; Loree Giroux, Treasurer – present.

 

Quorum; Natalie Lussier, Anthony Defilippo, Dr. Menounos, Tim Krodel, Loree Giroux, Arnie Giroux, Robin Izbicki, Kristi Munley and Lori Peeples.  

 

December minutes were reviewed by all in attendance. Corrections to the financial report were read and accepted with minutes.  Natalie Lussier  motioned. Arnie Giroux seconded. All were in favor. December minutes were accepted.

 

Financial Report: The current balance as of January 31st is $11488.12. Baseball has $697.00, Softball has $47.00, Art has $779.95, Basketball has $754.62 and Music has $2175.80. Actual PFO Balance less accounts is $7,033.75. Natalie Lussier motioned to accept the Financial Report. Arnie Giroux seconded. All were in favor.

 

Unfinished Business:

  1. Anthony DiFilippo asked the PFO for $1102.00 so that he can pay the baseball uniform company for the new uniforms. The total cost of uniforms will be $2138.00. Candy sales profits and donation will be used towards the payment. Mr. DiFilippo stated any money not used will be reimbursed to the PFO.
  2. Art trip - In addition to the Orchid show on March 20th , students will have lunch at the gardens and tour the Bronx Zoo. Students are to pay $30 each.  Total Cost of trip $2892, bus deposit already paid ($236), balance of $2656, raised to date $1238.95.  Needed $1417.05, student contribution of $660 - Balance of $757.05. Contribution of up to $800, with another fundraiser to be held and paid back into PFO - Arnie Giroux motioned, Natalie Lussier seconded. All were in favor.
  3. PFO T-Shirts will need to be done over with the correct school colors. The company states that the original design has three colors. The TShirt1 Company will charge to redo at a cost of $75. All present discussed just doing a shirt of Navy and Gold. Graphic Arts Department will be contacted to see if the image is still stored on their computers so that the colors can be redone. When the new image is finished a new quote will be attained from the company.
  4. Ms. Hans sent in a request to the PFO for sponsorship money for the HOBY Program. (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program).  The request information was passed out to all by Loree Giroux.  Arnie motioned to give $150.00 to the HOBY Program.  Kristi Munley seconded the motion. All were in favor.

New Business:

  1. Tim Krodel, the Senior Class Advisor, discussed the cookbook fundraiser the seniors were conducting. Printing to be done by Thames Printing. Also asked to do a St. Patrick’s Day dance, possibly March 13th. He has three quotes from DJ’s. PFO will sponsor if the state will not accept the application. Mr. Garcia would run a concession. Also talked about wanting to do a Basket Raffle. Natalie Lussier made motion to have PFO sponsor the dance if not approved by the state will not. Loree Giroux second. All in favor.
  2. Plant Sale - fundraiser for PFO - Saturday before Mother's Day at the school.  Loree to check with Pride's Corner, Cindy checking with her contacts to get the best pricing possible.  Do pre-orders as well as have extra on hand to sell the day of pick up.  Bring info back to March meeting to finalize and vote on.

Principal’s Report:

              Dr. Menounos stated that she still has some items she needs to purchase for the school.

              She also said that approximately 270 letters of acceptance will go out to the incoming freshman this year.

              She does not think that the school will loose any staff do to the reduction in budget thou the Culinary Arts program will need another teacher.

 

Cindy McKeon made motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:24. Loree Giroux second. All were in favor.
