Skills USA Events 2008-2009
Statesmen’s Conference
October 3, 2008- Annual conference with all the SkillsUSA Officers from every state chapter. We will perform community service on Sept. 26 at the Norwich town Rehabilitation Center as part of this conference. We will team up with students from NFA to run a fair at the center and assist the elderly in getting from activity to activity safely.

Nutmeg Fundraiser

October 3-20, 2008- Hey are you bored at home and find yourself with nothing to do? Sell some of these products from this fundraiser catalogue and earn some cool prizes that will never stop amazing you! The funds go to SkillsUSA to help pay for the cost of sending students to the State Competition in March.

Senior Citizen Turkey Dinner

November 2008- Why not come to the turkey dinner and spend some time with seniors from the Rosewood Manor Housing Complex in Norwich? Some residents are even Alumni! Come hear their stories and share a great meal to get you in the Holiday spirit!

Lights for Learning Fundraiser

Compact fluorescent bulbs sold throughout the school as another fundraiser to support the students who are competing in the Skills USA competition. The more sold means a cheaper fee to go to the competition in March! Save energy costs while helping the environment! The cost is cheaper than you will find in any store!

Giving Tree

December 2008- Do you have 3 dollars or 2 dollars floating around in your pocket? Well why no use it for something valuable like buying a toy for a needy kid. I’m sure that doesn’t mean a lot to you but to that kid your giving it to it sure does! The gifts received will go to needy children in the Norwich area.

Caroling at the Senior Center

December 2008- Is taking place at the Westwood Manor apartment complex. Do you like to sing? Are you in chorus?  Maybe you play guitar? Piano? Why not come out and carol for the senior citizens. An annual event that the seniors love. We have been getting better and better each year and now we have Mr. Garcia to help arrange and make us sound like the pros!

Heart to Heart Dance

February 2009- Our annual heart to heart dance is happening in February! Grab that special someone and come and dance the night away!!

Toiletry Drive

Happening march 2009. Shops as whole are going to compete to bring toiletry items in like toothpaste, soap, shampoos and any other personal hygiene items. The winning shop wins a pizza party! So why not put your shop on top and win some pizza!

Skills USA Competition

Happening March 27, 2009. All the Technical High Schools in Connecticut come to compete in trade and leadership events. There are trophies and scholarships and tool prizes at stake! Norwich Tech has established a fine tradition for winning many events and this year should be no different. Do not miss out on this excellent opportunity to display your talents and get recognized by judges from business and industry. If you would like to compete contact Mr. Kelly or Mr. Godere. Click here to see how we did.

Park clean-up

June 2009 We gather up our club and go to a park that needs a helping hand and we rake and pull weeds until the park is leaf and weeds.  It’s very appreciated from the community and we are also very proud of our selves for what we accomplished.  If you’d like to come along contact Mr. Kelly in Carpentry or Mr. Godere in Electrical.
