Just
One of Many Success Stories
Mike
Mollinari, a Senior in the Computer-Aided Drafting and Design
program, is already getting real world experience while still
in high school. Since April, 2007, Mike has been using his
developing computer skills as a member of the Information
Technology department at Gunther International. Based in Norwich
for over 20 years, Gunther International is a leader in the
design and manufacturing of mail processing equipment. Some
of their customers include major insurance firms such as Allstate
and Geico.
Mike
says that he really enjoys working at Gunther International.
"There are always new projects to work on. It's interesting,
challenging work. I get paid and get experience to put on
my resume before I graduate." Mike works from 11 am to
5 pm when he is in shop and works after school when he is
in academic classes.
One
of Mike's supervisors, Dan Leavitt, says that Mike has been
a definite asset for the company. "For a young man, he
already has a lot of valuable computer skills. He is working
on a lot of database projects and set up FTP (File Transfer
Protocol) capability for us." Mike's experience at Gunther
International is just another good example of how the Work
Based Learning program is benefiting Tech students and Connecticut
companies.
