(November, 2007) Besides learning the skills
of their trades, Tech students also learn the importance of working
as a team. The town of Beacon Falls has contracted with the Carpentry,
Electrical, Plumbing And HVAC shops at Emmett O’Brien to
build a 2nd floor dormer addition to their Resident State Trooper
Police Barrack. Initial design work began in September with Emmett’s
Computer-Aided Drafting and Deisgn program students providing
various floor plans and specifications for the work to be performed.
Construction has since begun with some initial demolition, rerouting
of electrical wires and the construction of a stairwell and installation
of stairs to the 2nd floor. It is anticipated the new 48 foot
long shed dormer will be framed, roofed and sided soon after
the new year so that the roughin work of the mechanical trades
can begin.
