In March,
students in Mr. Opramolla's Physics classes worked on a challenging
but also fun project. They had to design, build and shoot a catapult
(projectile launcher). Opramolla said the project was a hands-on
way that his students could gain a better understanding of projectile
motion and simple machines. Once constructed, students had three
chances to shoot a tennis ball into a 5 gallon pail at three different
distances 3 meters, 4 meters, and 5 meters. Students also had
to do a research paper on the history of catapults. Opramolla
said that he was impressed by the amount of work and ingenuity
many of the students put into the project. Below are some photos
of the students' work.
