Students in the construction shops at Platt (Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and Heating, and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) have been participatingin workshops regarding safety in the workplace. The workshops are run by Leona J. May who is a Compliance Assistance Supervisor for the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety And Health Administration (OSHA).. The students are learning about OSHA and how they can work more safely in a construction environment. After 10 hours of instruction, the students will become certifiied by OSHA. The program was coordinated by Mr. Salemme, Department Head of Platt Tech's Plumbing and Heating Department.
