
On Thursday April 24, 2008, outstanding
young women of Prince Tech were honored with a breakfast
and awards ceremony. The event was planned to acknowledge the
contributions and positive leadership skills these young women
have made to their school and community.
Bridget Heston, Assistant Principal,
served as Mistress of Ceremonies and introduced the guest speaker,
Ms. Lucy Goicoechea-Hernandez from the Governor's Latino and Puerto
Rican Affairs Commission. Other invited guests included
Superintendent of the Connecticut State Technical Schools, Dr.
Abigail Hughes, State Representative Minnie Gonzalez, Ms. Ivette
Rivera Dreyer, Financial Aid Director of Manchester Community
College, and William Chaffin, Principal.
Ms. Goicoechea-Hernandez arranged
for Governor's Proclamations for each of the 2007 and 2008 honorees
and Representative Gonzalez presented each girl with a signed
Legislative Citation.
The speakers expressed to our students
and to staff their interest in mentoring students with their educational
and career goals.
