SEASON RECAP

The 2009 version of the Football Falcons got off to a flying start when Henry Meneses took the opening kickoff against St. Bernard/Norwich Tech and ran it back for a touchdown.  That play proved to foreshadow what became a banner year for the Purple and Gold.

What followed was a magical season highlighted by an undefeated run through the Constitution State Conference, making the Falcons the Champions of that circuit.  The only blemish on the record was a loss to Eastchester, NY, a powerhouse team from the Empire State.  The season ended on a high with a convincing 34-0 win on Thanksgiving morning against Capital Prep/Classical Magnet at William Moriarity Field, the beautiful new facility on the campus of Prince Tech.

The Falcons defense was stingy.  Five times (out of nine games) they didn’t allow the opposing offense to score.  Other than the loss to Eastchester, the Falcons outscored the opponents 248-58, an average score of 31- 7.
Five Seniors finished their careers this year.  All five were four year players.  They are Marquez Palmer, Justin Torres, Henry Meneses, Julio Nieves and Peter Fong.

As a result of their dominant performances, six Falcons were named to the Constitution State All-Conference team.  They are: Henry Meneses, Julio Nieves, Marquez Palmer, Justin Torres, junior Mike Guzman and junior Kevin Manning.  Manning also became the first Prince Tech footballer to be named to the CHSCA Class S All-State team.
