DRESS CODE POLICY
In order to maintain a proper and healthy educational atmosphere,
students must be suitably dressed and groomed in order to promote
a positive, safe, and non-disruptive learning environment. The
State Board of Education and the administration encourage students
to dress in a manner that reflects pride in and respect for themselves
and their community. Restrictions on student appearance may
be applied whenever the dress or grooming interferes with the learning
process, is disruptive, is unsafe, or is contrary to law.
Without limitation, the following are examples of attire that
is prohibited from wear in the school buildings
during the academic school day or at school-sponsored activities:
- Coats, jackets or other attire normally worn as outerwear.
- All head coverings of any kind, including but not limited to
scarves, bandanas, masks, kerchiefs, athletic headbands, hats,
caps or hoods, unless worn for bona fide religious reasons. Hoodies
are prohibited.
- Footwear that damages or marks floors or that is a safety hazard,
including backless shoes, flip-flops and toeless shoes, heels
or slippers.
- Sunglasses, unless required by a doctor’s order.
- Spiked or studded bracelets, oversized or multi-finger rings,
belts or any other article or attire with spikes or studs attached.
- Attire or accessories that depict logo or emblems that encourage
the use of drugs, tobacco products or alcoholic
beverages.
- Attire that can create a hostile school environment or disrupt
the educational process such as clothing with harassing
symbols, pictures or vulgar, illegal, racial, sexist, or other
discriminatory viewpoints which denigrate others on the basis of
race, color, religion, creed, national origin, gender, sexual preference
or disability.
- Gang-related attire, including but not limited to gang colors,
jewelry, emblems, badges, symbols, signs, or other insignia which
are evidence of membership in or affiliation with a gang.
- Clothing that is overly revealing, including but not limited
to shirts and/or blouses that reveal
the abdomen, chest, or undergarments; tank-tops; see-through
clothing; shorts (mid- thigh shorts are acceptable);
miniskirts; or pants that reveal the navel, upper thigh or
undergarments. Underwear
must be covered. Cleavage must be covered.

SCHOOL ATTIRE IN ACADEMICS
The following attire is MANDATORY while in academics:
BOTTOMS:
- Navy, black or khaki pants, shorts or skirts.
- Pants must be “Docker” or “Dickie” straight
leg style worn or belted at the waist.
- Pants and shorts can not be cargo,
carpenter baggie style, torn, or ripped.
- Skirts and shorts must be 4 inches above the knee or longer. Denim,
jean, spandex or stretch materials are prohibited.
TOPS:
- Short and long sleeved “golf” or “polo” shirts
with collars with school logo appliquéd
on the front of the shirt in royal blue, gold, black, white,
red or pink.
- Solid long sleeved shirts or undershirts can be worn under
the short sleeved shirt for warmth in blue, gold, black,
white, red or pink with no writing or designs.
- Optional crew neck sweatshirts for colder weather with school
logo. Hoodies are NOT allowed.
Pants, shirts, shorts, jumpers, skirts, dresses,
drawstring pants or shirts made of sweat, spandex or stretch material,
or any jean/denim material are prohibited. Pajamas or clothing
intended for nightwear is prohibited. Students who do not comply
with dress code policy are subject to disciplinary action.
SCHOOL ATTIRE IN TECHNOLOGIES

Each technology area will designate a specific
shop uniform for their students in grades 10, 11, and 12.

The uniform will consist of a top and a bottom
of a designated color and material.

Uniforms will be made available for purchase
during the freshmen year.

Students are to keep all uniform tops buttoned and tucked in
at the waist at all times.

Hoop earrings and jewelry are prohibited
in certain technologies.
Freshmen Exploratary Dress Code:
Phase I and II
All Vinal students will be issued a picture identification card.
Identification cards shall be worn while on school property or at school-sponsored
events.
