Connecting
Activities
1.
Please provide a scope and sequence of your system of sustainable
connecting activities.
Year
Two
·
All
freshmen will complete the foundation course and will begin their
portfolio.
·
Sophomores
will continue to develop information research skills
·
Every
junior will attend the Work Place Readiness course and begin or
continue their portfolio
·
Interested
seniors can work on an electronic portfolio
This
is the start-up year for student involvement.
The
connecting activities listed in the original demonstration site
grant have little to do with raising the achievement or motivational
levels of the students. Vinal with its every day, pre-grant
programs, far exceed grant specifications.
There
is no scope or sequence in the connecting activities. They primarily
address increasing communication between the community, the sending
schools, and Vinal.
2.
Provide a comprehensive list of all connecting activities
that include but are not limited to: community and private sector
outreach (not prospecting or job acquisition), career days, parent
connections, appearances before civic or trade organizations, career
field trips, non-service delivery model.
Summer
tech-camp, open houses, business expo, kindergarten kids, 7th
& 8th grade pen pals, trade expo, student teams,
and informational and educational display at the Durham Fair, participation
in Chamber activities
