On Friday, November 21, 2008 Vinal hosted their second blood drive of the year. Seventy-one students participated, and a total of 66 pints of blood were collected saving 198 lives. This surpassed our goal of 56 pints for this drive. Four brave seniors, donated Double Red. Double Red is a donation where two units of red blood cells are collected from a single donor who meets the eligibilty criteria. Patients benefit from a Double Red donor by receiving two units from the same donor, resulting in fewer transfusion risks. Hats off and a big thank you to seniors Stephen Williams, Mike Gigliotti, Tom Freeman and John Cahill for their Double Red donation. We look forward to the same success in our next two blood drives scheduled for January 21st and March 20th.
