What is Dental Laboratory Technology study? When the manufacturing of a Dental appliance is to be made a dental laboratory technician will be the individual to do the task.

The technician after taking Eli Whitney's adult education course will be able to perform tasks concerning full dentures such as fabricating custom impression trays & occusal bite rims, also articulating models and setting artificial teeth in wax for clinical try in at dental offices. The dental technician will be able to construct cast chrome nickel alloy removable partial dentures to fit a stone master cast with esthetics pleasing to the patient.

Permanent crown & bridge fabrication is also a part of a dental technician's job. Cast gold full crowns and porcelain baked onto metal frame substructures are all part of what a dental laboratory technician is able to accomplish with the proper training.

The dental laboratory technician is trained to be able to fabricate composite crowns and bridges. The composite material is a new product that is a combination of light cured resins and porcelain. This method of fabricating crowns and bridges is becoming very popular in the dental field. The wearing down of composite material is the same as the human natural tooth, this is a major plus in the saving of tooth structures.

The dental laboratory technician is an artist and magician. They make patients without teeth appear as though they have all their natural dentition. As we know our teeth are our first part of our digestive tract, and without teeth our health could suffer. Being a dental laboratory technician can be very rewarding, monetarily and mentally.

The Whitney Tech Dental Laboratory Technician program is affiliated with the National Association of Dental Laboratories of Educators, please visit their Web site at: http://www.nadl.org/
