The Health Technology sophomores practiced their first evacuation drill. As future healthcare workers, these students need to be prepared for any situation. Patients that these students will take care of may be bed ridden; wheel chair bound, or have any illness that would render them incapable of exiting a dangerous situation. Healthcare workers must be ready to help evacuate patients in these situations. During the drill students practicedthe following techniques: blanket drag - used for patient that are bed ridden, two person fireman’s carry - used for patient that have upper strength, but cannot walk, and patients that are wheel chair bound. The practicing of these skills helps students understand the importance of their job, and the responsibility that goes with being a part of the healthcare team.
