The Eli Whitney
Web Design Team attended their second training session at
ACES this month. Team members worked with colleagues taking on
responsibilities such as project manager, web
designer, technical writer, multi-media animator, and graphics,
video and sound editor. Students learned how to use software
programs such as Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and
Audacity
to create interactive and informative websites to be
shared on the internet.
Training sessions are a result of a technology grant awarded to the school that allows students from Eli Whitney to work in teams with students from Derby High School. At their first meeting, team members participated in diversity training and created website themes aligned with identified areas of need in the CAPT. Teams work collaboratively both face-to-face and remotely using Blackboard to post their research and organize their findings.
Upon completion of the web design
project, the sites will be hosted by ACES and judged using pre-defined
criteria by a panel of Digital Design professors and students
from Quinnipiac University. A culminating activity will be an
Awards Celebration and a Career Fair in May, 2008. |
