CONCENTRATION, DEATH, AND SURVIVAL

Your trimester assessment is an essay. It is on the “use and abuse of power” and how it affects people’s lives and goals.

You have plenty of background information on the use and abuse that took place in the camps. You are going to have to allow your imagination to work to write how this event in history affected the dreams and the plans people made for their future and the future of their loved ones.

Read the web sites below and gather information on the people, their thoughts, questions, and plans. Your notes might include specific information on a person or a situation. However, remember you are focusing on how it affected their lives and goals in life.

Remember – you are taking notes to use in an essay.

YOUR TASK 1:

Read information from theses web sites
Take notes on any information that applies to how people used their survival skills and goals to survive the camps
Be sure to note if their families played a part in why they wanted to survive

YOUR TASK 2:

As you work through task one, look for and record information that you can connect to Elie Wiesel in the story, “Night.”

Procedure:

On the assessment test, you will not be allowed to use computer printouts
You may use any hand written notes you have made.
The test will be one class period.

TRIMESTER ASSESSMENT
