On Friday, March 20th, Whitney Tech participated in the 39th International Earth Day.  At 7:44 AM, EST, people all over the world stopped and rang 3 bells with a moment of silence. At the same time in Vienna, Austria "The Peace Bell" was rung along with bells rung worldwide from Paris, France to Shanghai, China.

Sponsored by the United Nations, the celebration's goal is for people around the globe to reflect on thoughts of a peaceful world, justice, and care of the earth. 

Two seniors at Eli Whitney, Mik-Tricia Mitchell and Tatiana Sanchez introduced the event and read a poem by the founder of Earth Day, John McConnell.
