Electrical Seniors are busy
on a special production assignment in Meriden. They are wiring
a pavillion building at Cuno Camp, a summer camp for members
of the local Boys and Girls Clubs. Meriden's youth have been going
to Cuno Camp since 1923 and when they needed some improvements
to the camp, the Wilcox Tech Electrical students answered the
call. They are putting in the electrical system throughout the
large 100 by 60 foot pavillion that overlooks Silver Lake. They
are also putting in flood lights inside and motion detection
lighting on the exterior.
Bob
Wielgosh, Department Head of the Electrical program at Wilcox
Tech, said, "It's a great opportunity for the students to give
back to their community using the skills they have developed
over the last four years. This project is also different from
wiring a residential setting so they get to learn some new skills
as well." The students have been braving the cold winter weather to
get the job done. "Everything should be ready for the kids when
the weather gets warmer," said Wielgosh. |
