Marilyn
Morales, a Senior in the Graphics Technology program at Wilcox
Tech, has been working at Instant Imprints since June, 2007.
Based in Meriden, Connecticut, Instant Imprints provides a variety
of quality graphics products to customers all over Connecticut.
Their clientele ranges from law enforcement departments to high
schools - in fact one of their customers is Wilcox Tech. They
design and create team uniforms, corporate apparel, signs and
banners, personalized gifts, and promotional products.
Deepan Divatia who owns Instant Imprints with his son Vandan
said that having Marilyn work at Instant Imprints has been a
very positive experience. "I think she has gained valuable
work experience here." Asked if her training at Wilcox
Tech helped prepare her for work at Instant Imprints, he said,
"Definitely, she had a strong knowledge of screen printing
and working with plates." He said he was impressed with
Marilyn's independent attitude. "We give her an assignment
and she is able to stay on task and finish the job usually without
little supervision."
Marilyn works
about 20 hours a week at Instant Imprints. Asked what she likes
most about working at Instant Imprints, she said, "I really
like applying what I learned at Wilcox in a real situation."
Marilyn said that she also likes doing design work on the computer
and then seeing a finished product. She gets the opportunity
to work on orders for Wilcox Tech making clothing for the sports
program which she is a part of - having played on the girls
basketball team.
After graduation,
Marilyn hopes to contine working in the field of graphics. "Working
here has helped me decide that this is what I want to do for
a career."
