The Windham Tech softball team finished its season
tied for first place in the East Division of the Constitution State
Conference with a 9-1 record and had an overall regular season
record of 15-2, earning the number one seed in the CIAC Class S
State Tournament. The team set a school record for total wins in
a season with 16.
Top players on this year's team were CSC All-Conference Team members
Lianne Gosselin at pitcher, Desiree Gonzales at second base and
Kelli-Lynn Simmons at short stop. Pam Casploi at 3rd base received
honorable mention.
The following players earned special team awards. Lianne Gosselin
earned MVP honors setting school single season records for wins
with 15, strikeouts with 136 and ERA at 2.26. Gold Glove Award
winner Desiree Gonzales led the team in assists and slugging percentage
and was tied for first in doubles. Silver Slugger Award went to
Kelli Simmons who was first on the team in batting average, on
base percentage, fewest strikeouts and most home runs. Anna Oshima
was the recipient of the Most Improved Player Award and led the
outfield in center. And finally, the Unsung Hero Award this year
went to Corin Landry at catcher who led the team in runs scored
and anchored the defense from behind the plate.
The captains for this year’s team were Corin Landry, Pam
Caspoli and Roxanne Ouellette. |
