Tech Culinary Arts Students Serve it UP for Firemen
Wright
Tech Culinary Arts students took on a huge task last week to
help out their community. Approximately 15 Culinary Arts
students volunteered their time on Saturday, January 26th to
benefit firefighters with cancer. According to Culinary
Arts Instructor Chef Sandy Hines, several hundred fire fighters
from around the country are suffering from various forms of cancer. The
benefit, which was held at UCONN Stamford, hosted more than 320
fire fighters who have been inflicted with cancer.
Chef
Hines was overwhelmed with positive comments about her students
and the service that they provided. “Many compliments
were received praising the students for volunteering their time,
their professionalism and their positive attitudes,” said
Hines, the 2006 Wright Tech Teacher of the Year.
The students
spent three days preparing salads, assorted sandwiches and desserts
for the firemen. They left a lasting impression on the
community and represented Wright Tech proudly. They exhibited
how the skills they learn in school can be used to make a difference
for others and benefit a great cause.
