The Yearbook committee, advised by Mrs. Roberta Schwartz, Language Arts instructor, kicked off 2008 with a motivated meeting this week. The core members present were Shanta Forbes – President and graduating senior, Janay Hawkins, Bianca Huertos, Sha’La Hall, Carl Taylor and Travae Barrett. The sophomores were recognized by Mrs. Schwartz for their outstanding effort in selling ads

Secretary Anna-Celia Rivera prepared letters to be sent to the student’s parents urging them to purchase a yearbook as well as ads. Four motions were brought on the table regarding payment to Jostens, the yearbook publisher, providing the media center with a yearbook, fundraising ideas, and the use of remaining 2008 funds should there be any.

Mrs. Schwartz has been the yearbook advisor for 10 years. She not only successfully spearheads the publishing of the yearbook, but teaches students, through the year long process, skills they will use in the business and marketing world after they leave high school.
