Regularly scheduled part-time employees who work thirty-two (32) hours per week must have been employed for twenty-four (24) calendar months to be eligible to apply for full-time positions.

Social Studies 32 Hours Ellis Technical High School, Danielson, CT #026 History and Social Studies.  Application materials should provide specific examples of preferred secondary-level history and social studies experience and training in the following areas in order to be considered: Standards-based lesson planning aligned to the CT Social Studies Frameworks and CT Core ELA Standards; Teaching practices that reflect current pedagogy of teaching and learning in history and social studies; Differentiated instructional strategies; Technology-embedded instruction; Teaching students of varying abilities including skill development and advanced placement classes; Use of varied assessments to inform instruction and promote learning. In addition, the application materials should provide evidence relating to: SRBI strategies and practices; Positive classroom climate strategies; Collaboration with colleagues in planning instruction and assessment; Leadership roles in teaching and learning; Participation/ membership in professional organizations related to the field of history and social studies; Student activity coordination at the school or community level.

Sustainable Architecture 32 Hours Ellis Technical High School, Danielson, CT

#090 – Sustainable Architecture.  Applicants must provide documentation of eight years, relevant, varied, hands-on experience in architectural computer-aided design, drafting and related technologies. Applicants must demonstrate a strong background in the latest 2D and 3D CAD software applications (Autodesk products preferred including REVIT). Must demonstrate knowledge and/or experience with sustainable building design or Leadership in Energy and Environmental design (LEED) practices. It is important that the applicant show evidence of experience that provides the foundation for teaching our students the theoretical knowledge, analytical problems solving and application skills necessary for entry-level employment in Sustainable Architecture as well as preparation for post-secondary education. Obtaining a CDL license with the proper endorsements within one year of employment is required to drive the student transport vehicle. 

Closing date is November 1, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.

CTHSS is relocating to 39 Woodland Street, Hartford

CTHSS is relocating to 39 Woodland Street, Hartford
Beginning, Friday, July 7, 2017 the Connecticut Technical High School System (CTHSS) will start relocating their Middletown office to 39 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105. The move will spread out over the next three business days with staff members arriving on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. We will have limited email and telephone communication during this transition. Despite the new street address, all CTHSS phone numbers will remain the same. The postal services will forward any mail sent to the old Middletown address. Visitors to the new building can park on site. Visitors must sign in at the security guard’s desk with photo identification.  Learn more

The One-Read committee, which consists of students from grades 9-12 as well as Social Studies and English teachers, at Bullard-Havens promoted kindness, unity, and acceptance school-wide after reading the book I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai. Student and teacher committee members read the book, participated in a filmed book discussion, and came up with ways to promote the book and its themes that would include the entire school.  Learn more
