Regularly scheduled part-time employees who work thirty-two (32) hours per week must have been employed for twenty-four (24) calendar months to be eligible to apply for full-time positions.

 #026 History and Social Studies.  Application materials should provide specific examples of preferred secondary-level history and social studies experience and training in the following areas in order to be considered: Standards-based lesson planning aligned to the CT Social Studies Frameworks and CT Core ELA Standards; Teaching practices that reflect current pedagogy of teaching and learning in history and social studies; Differentiated instructional strategies; Technology-embedded instruction; Teaching students of varying abilities including skill development and advanced placement classes; Use of varied assessments to inform instruction and promote learning. In addition, the application materials should provide evidence relating to: SRBI strategies and practices; Positive classroom climate strategies; Collaboration with colleagues in planning instruction and assessment; Leadership roles in teaching and learning; Participation/ membership in professional organizations related to the field of history and social studies; Student activity coordination at the school or community level.

Preferred candidate will have high school experience.  Application materials should document the following experiences: Experience utilizing a blended learning environment including use of hand held devices and web-based/software-based technologies, interdisciplinary instruction, use of differentiated instructional strategies, experience in effective progress monitoring of student IEP goals and objectives, knowledge and application of SRBI strategies, strategy based instruction for curriculum access, leadership roles in teaching, collaboration with colleagues in planning/delivering instruction and assessment, IEP development based on student needs, involvement in student activities at the school level.
