This committee aims to build mutually beneficial relationships between CTECS and the Connecticut business and industry community to create new opportunities for students and foster workforce development. Key responsibilities include:

Community Outreach
• Identify new partnerships with local businesses, state and municipal government entities, unions, trade associations, industry and community organizations.
• Facilitate connections between CTECS students and staff with CT Department of Labor, CT Administrative Services, and other industry professionals through job fairs, public sector career supports, company tours, mentorship programs, soft skills, job readiness and placement, etc.

Community Engagement:
• Suggest opportunities for community service projects between CTECS students and local businesses and community organizations.

Advocacy:
• Educate key stakeholders on policies and legislation to support the growth of the Connecticut workforce and the success of CTECS students.

Expectations for Committee Members:
• Leverage your professional networks to introduce CTECS to companies, organizations, and institutions that align with the committee’s goals.
• Commit to active participation by attending meetings regularly and taking action to advance the committee’s objectives.
• Focus on student opportunities and keep students at the center of all decisions.
• Establish clear and measurable goals aligned with the committee’s purpose.

This committee is dedicated to expanding career exploration initiatives, secondary and post-secondary partnerships, and work-based learning opportunities for CTECS students. Key responsibilities include:

Career Exploration:
• Develop strategies to introduce students to diverse career paths and industry sectors.

Secondary/Post-Secondary and Trade Partnerships:
• Expand and promote registered apprenticeship and trade focused programs for both secondary and post-secondary students
• Strengthen trade licensing and flexible training by partnering with the Department of Labor and licensed construction trades to support night and weekend programs for skill development and advancement.
• Build relationships with Connecticut colleges and universities.
• Identify opportunities for concurrent and dual enrollment programs, articulation agreements, and seamless transitions to higher education.

Work-Based Learning:
• Expand access to work-based learning opportunities for students (internships, registered apprenticeships, job shadowing) by developing partnerships with private and public businesses
• Evaluate the current work-based learning program and recommend strategies for improvement
